In a snapshot of three short days,
was all we had to catch up on life’s goings-on
in a meet and greet circumstance
with our far-away sister and eight-week-old nephew.
The adults sat in chairs as the little man cooed
on his blanket, inspecting all the items in the room
with his large, gray-silvery eyes
moving slowly across each object in the room:
first the lights, then the stripes.
Those yenning for children mesmerized by his movements
Though a crying baby can shortly defuse these thoughts:
Kevin’s gentle words and rocking, with panic in his eyes
as I sat across the room grinning at him,
confirming that he was doing great!
Willow and Nova introduced themselves
with wet but gentle kisses on his toes
A reminder of his best friend, the pit bull
who waited back at home for his safe return.

Some afternoon time with our newest family member

Sounds like a good time. Ours have grown up so fast.
